ester mark Ester Lipscomb  ester mark

Ester Lipscomb learned to throw from the esteemed Matt Henderson at North Georgia College and State University. After graduating with a degree in Art Education she taught in the Georgia public school system before hitting the road.

Ester lived (and studied pottery when possible) in New York, Colorado, India, Japan and California, working along the way at jobs as diverse as baker, Bollywood extra, and English teacher. She returned to the North Georgia Mountains in 2008 to make pottery full-time.

In 2012 Ester and her wonderful fiancÚ moved to Lakemont, Georgia. In addition to pottery, she enjoys making dessert, spending time with her remarkable dog Loretta Lynn, and whistling.

The images here are snapshots to give you an idea of the style and some of the items that Ester typically does.  They do not necessarily represent what we currently have in stock.  There may be a special order or two mixed in here as well.
So it is important to remember that the inventory is always changing.

New work comes out of the kiln every four weeks or so depending on the current firing schedule.

All of our pottery is food safe using only lead-free glazes and clays.  Microwave safe and most are oven safe too.  They can be washed in the dishwasher or as some customers prefer, hand washed.

Thanks to all of Ester's fans and to the friends, neighbors and visitors locally and from around the world.  Mark of the Potter would not be the same without you!
